Electoral Commission of Kenya ECK Chairman Samuel Kivuitu has
vowed to stay put as the chair of the commission despite mounting
pressure from various quarters to have the commission disbanded.
Speaking in Mombasa after a civil society group stormed a meeting
by the commissioners calling for their immediate disbandment,
Kivuitu said he would only resign if those elected during the 2007
elections will also do the same.
A seemingly relaxed Kivuitu however maintained he was not going to
buckle under the pressure and will continue to serve as the
commissioner until his term ends.
