Kenyans mark Women's Day

Women around the world Saturday marked the international women's day.

In Kenya the day was celebrated with focus shifting from the achievements of women to the plight of women IDP's.

Women leaders who gathered in various parts of the country made a passionate appeal to the government to resettle women and children displaced by the post election violence.

In Limuru, hundreds of displaced families appealed to the government to assist them financially in rebuilding their homes which were destroyed during the post election skirmishes.

The IDPs mostly women and children joined the rest of the world in marking the International Women's Day at the Kirathimo IDP camp.

The event organizers, Refugee Consortium of Kenya called on the government to implement a law to safeguard the rights of Internally Displaced Persons.
